Online Services Privacy Policy

The Lewis & Clark Library Board of Trustees is committed to protecting individual privacy. The Privacy Policy pertains to all online services hosted by the Library. This policy does not cover any third-party site that is linked from any Library resource.

The Library does not collect personal information about visitors to online services, unless users choose to provide that information to us. Information patrons supply will only be used to provide or improve library services, or for statistical purposes.

This policy applies to all information collected or submitted via Lewis & Clark Library online services. Within some online services, patrons can make requests, add comments, register for programs, or use electronic resources. The Library may collect personal information such as:
    • Name
    • Address
    • Email address
    • Phone number
    • Library card number

Information Collected and Stored Automatically

During patron online visits, certain information is automatically gathered and stored. This information does not identify the Library patron personally. The Library automatically collects and stores the following information about the visit:
    • The Internet domain and IP address from which access to the service is gained
    • The type of browser and operating system used to access the Library’s online service
    • The date and time of access to the Library’s online services
    • The services or pages visited and for how long
    • The address of the resource from which the initial visit to online services launched
    • Data about the device accessing the library service

The Library uses this information to improve online services to patrons, count online visitors, and track the types of technology patrons use. The Library does not retain patrons’ personal information or identity.

Confidentiality of Library Records

Information provided to the Library or accessed via the Internet regarding an individual’s Library account falls under the Library’s Confidentiality of Library Records Policy.

The Library does not share personal information collected via online services with outside parties.
