Love Your Library! Signature Event to Launch Year-long Sesquicentennial Celebration!
January 30, 2018 (Helena, MT)—To celebrate 150 years of service to Helena and Lewis and Clark County, Your Lewis & Clark Library is hosting a Love Your Library! event on February 14th. This all day long celebration serves as the launch of a series of year-long signature events that will highlight the Library’s 150 years of continual service.
Lewis & Clark Library Director John Finn explains that this is the perfect way to kick off the Library’s sesquicentennial celebration, “Libraries are about people and our patrons have a special connection to this library and what better way to kick off our celebration than by honoring those who make this library a great place to read, enjoy programs, and take classes.”
There are several activities planned throughout the day including a special Story Time at 10:30AM on the Story Steps and a Lunch-n-Learn program at noon featuring local historian and author, Ellen Baumler. Baumler will discuss the history of library buildings in Helena and attendees can enjoy a yummy lunch from Event Thyme Catering. The Lunch-n-Learn is free and open to all and will take place from 12-1PM in the Large Meeting Room.
Throughout the day, patrons are invited to write a valentine to the Library to express what they value most about their Library. The valentines will be placed on display in the Library.
At 4PM, Teens are invited to join the ACT Study Group that will be meeting on Wednesdays through March in preparation for the ACT test this Spring. Registration is required for this event and participants should bring writing materials, a calculator, and/or a laptop computer. The Library will have a small number of computers for participants to use, but participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops if possible.
In addition, there will be special treats throughout the day. Stop by the Library on Wednesday, February 14th and celebrate Love Your Library!
