[ARCHIVED] Library to Host 10th Annual Poetry On Fire Student Poetry Slam!

Library to Host 10th Annual Poetry On Fire Student Poetry Slam!

April 14, 2016 (Helena, MT)—Your Lewis & Clark Library’s celebration of National Poetry Month concludes with the 10th Poetry on Fire Student Poetry Slam on Wednesday, April 27th at 7PM.

Teen Services Librarian Heather Dickerson explains that, “A poetry slam is a competitive event in which poets perform their work and are judged by members of the audience. Scoring is based on the poets' content and performance.”

Young poets, in grades 6-12, are invited to come and share their original poems and hear their peer’s work presented in a Poetry Slam setting. Everyone registered participates in the first round. Poems should be read with no use of props, costumes, or musical instruments. Prizes will be awarded!

Poets need to bring three original poems, three minutes or less in length. Registration begins at 6:30PM with the Slam beginning at 7PM. Everyone is welcome to come watch our local young poets as they share their original works at the 10th annual Poetry on Fire Student Poetry Slam.
