An Evening with the Author Timothy Egan

March 21, 2016 (Helena, MT)—Your Lewis & Clark Library, Carroll College, and the Montana Historical Society invite you to a free lecture by award winning author Timothy Egan on Tuesday, April 19 at 7:00 PM in the lower level of the Carroll College Campus Center.

Egan will discuss his newly released book, The Immortal Irishman: The Irish Revolutionary Who Became an American Hero, which is about Thomas Francis Meagher. He will be signing books after the lecture.

In honor of Egan’s April 19th appearance, the community is hosting several book discussions. Copies of each title are available for check out at your Lewis & Clark Library’s Information Desk.
The Immortal Irishman: The Irish Revolutionary Who Became an American Hero on Tuesday, March 29th at 7PM and repeated Monday, April 18th at 7 PM in the Small Meeting Room at the Lewis & Clark Library.

Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis on Thursday, April 7th at 5 PM at the Montana Historical Society.

Lasso the Wind: Away to the New West on Tuesday, April 5th at 7 PM at the Corette Library at Carroll College.

Egan is the author of seven books. His nonfiction account of the Dust Bowl, The Worst Hard Time, won the 2006 National Book Award, considered one of the nation's highest literary honors, and he was featured prominently in the 2012 Ken Burns film on the Dust Bowl.
A lifelong journalist, Egan now writes an online opinion column for The New York Times. Prior to that, Egan worked as a national correspondent for the Times, roaming the West. As a Times correspondent, he shared a Pulitzer Prize in 2001, with a team of reporters for its series, "How Race is Lived in America."
