[ARCHIVED] Lewis & Clark Library Hires New Director

Lewis & Clark Library Hires New Director

November 24, 2015 (Helena, MT)—Your Lewis & Clark Library Board of Trustees are pleased to announce that John Finn has been hired to replace retiring Director Judy Hart. Finn is currently with the Beaverton City Library in Oregon and will begin work at the Lewis & Clark Library in mid-January.

Finn brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He previously served as Reference Librarian for the Illinois State Library; was a statewide consultant for the Montana State Library; served as Head of Information Services for Great Falls Public Library; and was Director of the Hearst Free Library in Anaconda prior to moving to Oregon in 2010 where he has since served as the Branch Manager at the Beaverton City Library.

Originally from Illinois, Finn holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Finn’s wife, Maggie, is a Helena native and “we couldn’t be more excited to return home,” stated Finn.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the Board’s decision,” stated Lewis & Clark Library Director Judy Hart. “I have worked with John on numerous boards and committees over the years and he is a brilliant librarian who will expertly guide the Lewis & Clark Library System into the next phase of its rich history of being a library of firsts.” Hart, who is retiring in the Spring of 2016, will work with Finn during a transition period.
