April 25, 2014 (Helena, MT)— Come to Your Lewis & Clark Library and see one of Helena's most exciting new artists, Alex Worthy, who is displaying many exceptional oil paintings in his first solo showing. The Library will be hosting an Opening Reception for Worthy on Monday, May 5th from 6-8 PM. The Reception is free and open to the public.
Alex Worthy was born in 1978 and in 2007 decided to be a painter, but he was an artist from the beginning. Both of Alex's parents are fine artists who exposed him to and encouraged him in his love of art. In 2001 Alex graduated from Montana State University with a BFA in graphic design. Besides being an exceptional artist Alex is also a competent musician. He plays the organ and piano as an accompanist at valley View Lutheran Church, and sings as a tenor in the Helena Symphony Chorale. In music or art Alex wants to create something beautiful. His favorite artists are the French Impressionists, whose works are equally abstract and descriptive. Alex paints with a palette knife to create strong individual strokes and a thick texture. Bright colors and uninhibited flourishes complete his energetic style.
