Successful 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program Graduates 24!

October 16, 2017 (Helena, MT)—In February of 2016, Your Lewis & Clark Library launched an early literacy program aimed at helping preschoolers successfully prepare for kindergarten, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. Children’s Services Librarian, Marissa Bazan, is pleased to announce that 24 young people have successfully completed the program and to celebrate, the Library is hosting a celebration on Friday, October 20th at 4PM.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten encourages reading at an early age and focuses on the development of skills necessary for a successful transition into kindergarten. “Children enjoy listening to stories as much as trying to explore stories themselves; the importance of reading to your child at an early age is vital to the development of their early literacy skills,” explains Bazan.

For more information on 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, or to sign up for the program, contact Children’s Services Librarian Marissa Bazan at MBazan@lclibrary.org or via phone at 406.447.1690 ext 115.
