Lewis & Clark Library’s Annual Food For Fines to Benefit Helena Food Share!
November 11, 2016 (Helena, MT)—Helena Food Share is preparing for the Holiday season and that means that more families than normal will be needing assistance from Helena Food Share. Your Lewis & Clark Library would like to help out by offering our annual “Food For Fines” to our patrons the week of November 13-20. Simply bring in non-perishable food items, along with all of your over-due items and the Public Services staff will waive your fines.
Some restrictions do apply, however. Patrons must have all over-due items turned in and must present their food share donations in order to have their account cleared. Also, patrons with accounts in collections, or who owe for damaged or lost items, will not be able to benefit from “Food For Fines.”
Not sure what food items to donate? Helena Food Share provided us with their “Top 10” list of most needed items during the holidays:
1. canned fruit
2. peanut butter
3. canned milk
4. stuffing
5. jello/pudding
6. canned vegetables
7. meal in a can – spaghetti-os, chili, beef stew, etc.
8. meal in a box - mac & cheese, stroganoff, etc.
9. healthy snack bars
10. instant oatmeal
The Lewis & Clark Library will donate all collected food items to the Helena Food Share. “This is a fantastic opportunity to clear up your Library account while helping out your community at the same time,” commented Lewis & Clark Library Director, John Finn.
So find those overdue books and head to the main branch of the Library at 120 S. Last Chance Gulch, or one of the branch libraries in Augusta, Lincoln, East Helena, and the Bookmobile between November 13-20 and help us help Food Share.
