Planners, Planning & Productivity
September 7, 2016 (Helena, MT)—Stress seems to be an ever present reality in our fast-paced, always online society. How we deal with stress effects our overall health and happiness, and as psychologist and self-help author Robert Epstein explains, “25% of our happiness hinges on how well we’re able to manage stress.” So what is the best way to cope with stress? According to Dr. Epstein, the best stress management tool is planning.
The simple task of writing your to-do list down on a calendar can help to reduce stress. From check-lists to planners, there are methods that will work for everyone from the busy student to the harried working-parent.
On Saturday, September 10th from 1-4PM, your Lewis & Clark Library will host a workshop on effective planning techniques. “Planners, Planning, and Productivity” will introduce participants to planner styles and formats that best suit their lifestyles.
“Establishing a routine is essential in reducing one’s stress,” explains workshop organizer Judy Hudgins. “Knowing what your day is going to look like and having time marked aside for specific tasks, even for personal time, helps us feel in control of our day and when we feel in control our stress level decreases.”
Hudgins will discuss several different types and styles of planners as well as different techniques for using them effectively.
“From Bullet Journaling, to Passion Planners, to Getting Things Done (GTD), we will look at and discuss virtually every planner style and format available,” explains Hudgins. The workshop is free but signup is encouraged by calling the Library’s Information desk at 406.447.1690 ext. 5.
