Interlibrary Loan

What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Interlibrary loan (ILL) lets you borrow books and other materials from libraries outside of Lewis & Clark County within the continental United States. If we don't have what you need, we can request it for you!

How do I request an ILL?

  1. Search for an item you want in FirstSearch.
  2. Once you've identified the item you want to request in FirstSearch, you will be redirected to our new interlibrary loan system Clio.
  3. Log into Clio, review the details of your request on the prefilled form, write in the format you want to confirm (Print book, DVD, Blu-ray, Book on CD, Large Print, etc.), then click the "Submit" button. You're done!
  4. You can also request an ILL over the phone by calling the library that is your pick-up location.

Watch this video for step-by-step instructions on how to request an ILL, or check out this FAQ with screenshots illustrating this process.
