Hey
parents, grandparents, babysitters, older siblings: Did you know you
can lock your iPhone or iPad in an app so your littles can’t close that
app? We figured this out recently when my baby ran away with my phone
while playing his favorite song and ended up making some phone calls.
Here’s how:
- Open Settings and scroll down to Accessibility.
- Open Guided Access (all the way down near the bottom of the menu)
- Turn on Guided Access and set the passcode you want to use to exit the app (or turn on face recognition or fingerprint passcode)
- Exit the settings
To
use it, you open the app you want the device to lock on and then hit
the home button three times (iPhone 8 or older or the SE) or the side
button three times (newer devices). You can also ask Siri to turn on
Guided Access. Once activated, a pop up will tell you that Guided Access
is on. Triple push the home button or side button again to turn it off
(and enter your passcode if you made that a requirement).
