Winter's Orbit
by Everina Maxwell
For science-fiction readers who prefer diplomacy and intricate social ritual to the more militaristic versions of the genre. Sometimes marketed to romance readers, as much of the story hinges on an arranged marriage. Fans of Alexis Hall (Boyfriend Material) are likely to appreciate the character dynamic. Winter's Orbit may appeal to fantasy readers looking to read beyond their comfort-zone.

The 5th Season
by N.K. Jemisin
Fantasy with a strong female main character of color. I don't read a lot of fantasy, but I loved the writing and the story is engaging. This is the first part of a trilogy and a really fun summer read!

Gilded
by Marissa Meyer
Fairy tale retellings are so much fun! This is a new version of the classic Rumpelstiltskin story. Meyer sucks you in with her usual skill and you’ll find yourself incredibly invested in the characters' lives. Poor Rumpelstiltskin! (Note: If you haven’t read Cinder, a cyborg Cinderella story—you must!) Also, a warning: this book is part of a planned duology. The sequel is coming out in November!
