Staff Picks Video Games image Video games are a popular addition to Lewis & Clark library’s special collections. The library has a good variety of games available in XBox,  Nintendo Switch, and PS4. Video games can be checked out for two weeks and you may have up to two games checked out on your card at a time. Also, keep in mind video games are non-reservable which means you will need to come in to the library to make your selections for check out.

If you’re a video game enthusiast, we hope you’re able to take advantage of what the library has to offer. To help you out, the library’s own Gamer Extraordinaire, Guil, has three great video game suggestions.  picture of Guil with video games in library

Guil recommends . . . Hades VG cover

Hades is my personal favorite game that I played in 2021. Play as Zagreus, son of the ever-ornery Hades, whose goal is to break free from Tartarus and reach the surface. Meet and befriend legendary mythological characters such as Artemis, Sisyphus, and even Zeus. The gameplay on your escape attempts feels great and is highly customizable allowing both your creativity and lightning-fast reflexes to shine. If you were to give only one of my recommendations a shot, make it Hades, you won't regret it.

Yakuza video game cover

Yakuza is one of the most joyous games I have ever played. In Like a Dragon you are treated to a wonderful story filled with intrigue that's sometimes operatic, sometimes goofy, but always told well and with great sincerity. The main character, Ichiban, is a big source of that aforementioned joy as his wonderful optimism and perseverance will penetrate even the most jaded of hearts. Join him and a party of eclectic comrades as you go around unraveling a great mystery and assist all sorts of people with their problems. It will bring a smile to your face--every time you start this game.

Animal Crossing video game coverIf you're looking for sweetness and relaxation, then the latest Animal Crossing is the game for you. Join a wonderful island community and mingle among a diverse group of adorable villagers. You can also customize your island paradise to be your home away from home. While taking a break from creating your home away from home get to know your villagers better, participate in activities such as group yoga, fishing, fossil digging, and more!
