Happy New Year from Lewis & Clark Library’s Staff Picks Blog!  It’s hard to believe we’re already into 2022 and here’s hoping this year will be a good year for us all.
In the past I’ve started the New Year with resolutions to encourage myself to be better in the coming year in some way or another. This year I am adamantly against any sort of grandiose resolutions. Instead, what I’m hoping to do is slowly implement small changes into my daily habits. Here are two books that I’m reading for inspiration:

Beth suggests . . . Atomic Habits book cover

Atomic Habits
by James Clear

This book surprised me, whereas I don’t agree with everything in this book (and neither should you), this self-help book grabbed my attention right away with interesting anecdotes and impressive stories of self-improvement which start with small (atomic) changes. The chapters are short, and easy to read.

 Power of Habit book cover

The Power of Habit: why we do what we do in life and business
by Charles Duhigg

I enjoyed listening to The Power of Habit as an audiobook while working around the house. My biggest take away from this book is to consider my purchasing decisions and how marketing might play into my decision making. Part of my new year’s small habit changes are to be more mindful of how I spend money and use resources.
